Week 1 - Homework

Pre-Production & Planning
Week 1 Homework
1. Research three impacts of legal issues on media products
- Freedom of Information Act: Is where the public has a right to access information that is held by the public sector organisations. The public organisations are allowed to publish certain information about the activities they are talking about. If the organisation wanted to share more information they must request it from the individual.

- Intellectual Property Act: This is when if you have produced any work and uploaded on anything then it is classified as your property and if someone was to want to use it then it would require your permission, because you are the one that have produced it & if the don't then they would be known as plagiarising the individuals work.

- Data Protection Act: The website https://www.gov.uk/data-protection claims that this act is if you was to collect data about an individual then the data must be accurate, kept safe, used fairly, secure, used for relevant reasons and used for a limited time, otherwise you could face a lawsuit.

- Copyrights, Designs & Patent Act: This is used when you create a piece of work and have distributed it, you are then have the right to control how it can used by other users. This is done so the owner of the work produced is being given credit rather than the person using taking the credit instead.

2. Using the legal issues researched in the previous task and produce a 10 point guidance sheet you would use to produce a new media product

- Radio Production:
When producing a radio programme you must be very careful about the information you are distributing. If say you are talking about an individual you must make sure you don't give too much information as you must meet the freedom of information act & if you do give out information you must also meet the data protection act, as the information must be accurate otherwise there will be consequences.
